Time………Friday, Aug 5th 2016, 3:00 -- 5:00 pm (To be determined)

Where……. Room 415, North Physics Building

Speaker….. Dr. Luca Porcelli, National Institute for Nuclear Physics

Title………. The SCF_Lab and its Laser Retroreflectors for the Solar System

Abstract:

The SCF_Lab is a space infrastructure built by INFN-LNF for its space research programs and AIT/AIV activities. The laboratory is a 85-sq.m. class 10,000 clean room (ISO 7) and is operational with the SCF and the SCF-G OGSEs.

Recent SCF_Lab achievements include amongst the other: • INRRI-EDM/2016 - the first laser retroreflector payload (to be deployed) on Mars. • Thermo-optical characterisation in simulated relevant space conditions of ESA CCR tray part of Galileo-IOV hardware. • Thermo-optical characterisation in simulated relevant space conditions of ISRO-LEOS CCR tray belonging to IRNSS satellite constellation.

Brief introduction to the speaker:

Dr. Luca Porcelli is a Researcher at INFN-LNF ([Italian] National Institute for Nuclear Physics - Frascati National Laboratories), where I have been working over the years for the SCF_Lab Group (www.lnf.infn.it/esperimenti/etrusco).
